New York State Outdoor Burn Ban

Please remember, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation has a burn ban in effect until May 14th. Fire responders have been fighting brush fires constantly statewide lately. As counterintuitive as it may seem coming out of Winter, early Spring is always a high hazard for fires.

“The spring fire season stretches from the time that the snow melts until green leaves start to appear, usually from April until late May. During this time there is an abundance of dead leaves and vegetation on the ground from the previous autumn. Spring winds dry out this material, creating fuel for fires.” – ADK Experience
